eclec0099 | ANDY WILSON | 24|04|2018

Andy Wilson belongs to that rare breed of Balearic DJs who actually live in the Balearics. One-time teenagepost-punker from Manchester, with four John Peel Sessions and numerous toursunder his belt by the age of 18, Andy began DJing in 1991, a natural
progression after years of making mix-tapes and spending a fortune on vinyl. The 90’s were spent travelling the world , heavily involved with the free party
scene in Thailand and as an integral part of London’s notorious Sancho Panza
crew, specialists in the best warehouse and boat parties. A move to Ibiza in
1999 saw him DJ at most of the main clubs and take over the island’s only
English language radio programme. In 2004, Andy helped launch Ibiza GlobalRadio hosting nightly shows for two seasons before leaving to co-found IbizaSonica in 2006 where he ran the programming and produced shows for legends suchas Jose Padilla, Nightmares On Wax, Louie Vega and many more as well aspresenting a daily show and DJing in most of the island’s clubs . He now worksat Sonica as a freelance producer and music consultant , with his radio showBalearia being one of the most popular at the station, which now boasts over 12million listeners a month .He DJs and broadcasts regularly but you’re morelikely to find him behind the decks at exclusive parties or soundtracking the sunsets at outdoor venues on and off Ibiza than in a big club.

Review : José Manuel – Human Behaviour. Drops 20th April on Clandestino. [Clan005]

For Clandestino’s fifth offering Berlin’s Italiano in residence José Manuel drops his unique strain of exotic club music; once again exploring deep, ritualistic and tribal influences to great dramatic effect. ‘Human Behaviour’ is a woozy nine minute opus.
Rich in atmospherics, chanting and ethnic flutes. Clandestino’s remix refines the track for the dance-floor, retaining the atmosphere and injecting a driving 303 line and jamming Afro keys.Upping the tempo on ‘Bangalore’ a great ethnic guitar hook drives along the groove while disorienting chants and tribal percussion flutter underneath.
Mushrooms Project turn out an essential blissful sundown version by extending out the pads and adding gentle warm keys
